About the nature space
Hello, my name is Sian and I set up the nature space to support people coming back to themselves in their wholeness, using my training as a therapist and working with nature as our guide.
I am a bereavement practitioner by day, I founded the grief cafe in Steyning, I host monthly womens circles in Steyning and I provide counselling services to people of all ages including children, having worked in schools for much of my working life.
I am a qualified counsellor, nature based practitioner and I am training as an eco-therapist and eco-depth psychologist with Natural Academy and I would love to work with you. I am fully insured with an enhanced DBS check.

Therapeutic Work
with Children and Young People
My approach to working with children and young people is grounded in creating a safe, nurturing space where they can explore, express, and grow—at their own pace. I use a blend of therapeutic methods tailored to each individual, drawing on nature as an ecotherpapost and counsellor, art, talking therapies, and sometimes… my chickens!
I have over 20 years of experience working with children and young people facing a wide range of challenges, including those who have experienced high levels of trauma, are living with special educational needs (SEN), or are navigating anxiety, grief, or loss.
I understand how these experiences can affect emotional regulation, relationships, confidence, and learning, and I adapt my approach to meet each child where they are, both emotionally and developmentally.
Nature-Based Therapy
Being outdoors can offer a calm and grounding experience. Nature provides a gentle but powerful setting for children to connect with themselves and the world around them. Whether it’s walking, sitting under trees, exploring textures, or simply noticing the seasons, I integrate the natural environment as a co-therapist in the process. This can be especially beneficial for children who feel overwhelmed or find it difficult to engage in traditional indoor settings.
Creative Expression
Many children and young people find it easier to express themselves through art rather than words. I offer a range of creative tools—drawing, painting, clay, collage—that allow for safe emotional exploration and non-verbal storytelling. Art-making can be particularly helpful for those who have experienced trauma or struggle to put their experiences into words.
Talking Therapies
Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is listen. I provide a space for children and young people to talk freely, be heard, and make sense of their thoughts and feelings. I use elements of person-centred, integrative, and trauma-informed approaches, always shaped around the needs and preferences of the child or young person.
And the Chickens…
Animals can offer a unique kind of comfort. My chickens are part of the therapeutic environment—sometimes curious observers, sometimes gentle distractions. For some young people, spending time with the chickens brings a sense of calm, joy, and connection that words alone can’t always achieve. They often create a bridge to trust and engagement, especially for children who are anxious or unsure.
My work is always child-led, respectful, and flexible—meeting children and young people where they are and walking alongside them as they find their way.
